PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A elderly man who shot at deputies in Blanton has been taken into custody, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, 87-year-old Dale Stover fired shots at his family before barricading himself inside the bathroom around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office said Stover refused to come out of the home and at approximately 11:15 a.m. he fired a gun at deputies attempting to speak with him from outside the home. The bullet struck a shield but did not injure anyone.

Nobody was hurt in the standoff and investigators said the situation was “resolved peacefully.”

Stover was arrested on several charges, including attempted aggravated domestic battery, shooting into an occupied dwelling and five counts of attempted murder on a law enforcement officer.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said authorities did not return fire.

Nocco says law enforcement is still investigating Stover’s motive.
