(WFLA) — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke called out Texas Governor Greg Abbot Wednesday during a news conference updating the public on a deadly elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas that left 19 students and two teachers dead.

During the conference, O’Rourke was seen approaching the stage where he claimed Governor Abbot had not done enough to prevent the senseless shooting.

“You are doing nothing, you are all doing nothing,” O’Rourke said as he pointed to Gov. Abbot and several other state and local officials.

One man fired back, “You’re out of line and you’re an embarrassment.”

Sen. Ted Cruz chimed in and said, “Sit down and don’t play this stuff.”

O’Rourke continued his argument adding, “this was totally predictable and you chose not to do anything,” before the sound of angry bystanders drowned the gubernatorial candidate out.

While O’Rourke was escorted out of the auditorium by law enforcement, he turned and said, “this is on you until you choose to do something.”

Some members in the audience shouted out “let him speak” as O’Rourke was escorted out. Others yelled about the first amendment.

Minutes after the debacle, Gov. Abbot said, “We need to focus not on ourselves and our agendas. We need to focus on the healing and hope that we can provide to those who have suffered.”

“Think about the people who are hurt,” he said.
